K-6 Teaching Awards for Excellence in Math, Science, Computer Science-due 4/1/14
Nominations are open for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) 2013-14 competition, sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF). Deadline: April 1, 2014.
The PAEMST are the nation’s highest honors for teachers of mathematics and science, including computer science. The NSF will eventually select two winners from each state to be recognized in the spring of 2015 in Washington, D.C., where they will participate in professional development with their peers and receive a $10,000 award.
The award alternates each year between honoring teachers of grades K-6 and 7-12, with the 2014 awards for educators for grades K-6.
Awardees serve as models for their colleagues, inspiration to their communities and leaders in the improvement of mathematics and science education.
Nominees must be teaching full time and have at least five years of teaching experience.
In addition, teachers may personally apply for PAEMST, and those applications are at https://www.paemst.org/.
